Do I need a referral?

No. Only patients who are having their consultations paid for by a Third Party (eg. WorkCover/Defence/Medicare) need a referral. If you’re not sure, our admin staff can help, just give them a call.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring along any information you have about your injury. This may include doctors referral, X-rays and/or imaging reports. Don’t worry if you don’t have any of these. They are not necessary for us to start your treatment.

I just need a splint? Do I need to make an appointment?

In short - yes. We stock a variety of thumb, wrist and elbow braces as well as making custom moulded thermoplastic splints. To make sure your splint is appropriate, the therapists need to assess your condition. In addition to this, they need to give you education and exercises to further assist your recovery.

I’ve just had an injury/surgery, isn’t it too early to start therapy?

No. Results have been proven to be better with earlier therapy. We can look after your wounds and dressings, will make a splint if needed, and get you started on appropriate exercises if indicated.

Why should I come to Territory Hands, and not go to my general physio?

Because this is the area we exclusively work in. We have over 50 years combined experience in treating the hand, wrist and arm, and it’s what we love to do. We are the only practice in the Northern Territory that exclusively treats the hand and arm, so you’re in good hands!

Do you accept Medicare EPC programs?

Yes, we accept clients who have an Enhanced Primary Care Plan, which is developed by your GP. This plan provides you with a rebate that contributes to part of your consultation cost. Any equipment provided (including splints) are additional. This means there is a gap payment that needs to be covered by you. If you aren’t sure, or want more information, please call our admin staff.

I’ve got an uncomfortable cast, help!

Tight, sweaty, uncomfortable cast getting you down? We can help! At Territory Hands we are experts in making custom thermoplastic splints which are waterproof, removable, and lightweight. A great alternative and provide much relief. If you need another cast, we can replace the one you’re in, with a comfortable, waterproof version, perfect for our humid climate.

I have Private Health Insurance. Can I use this at Territory Hands?

Yes. Your private health fund may cover some or all of the consultation cost - depending on your level and type of cover. You need to have Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy included in your policy. We also have HICAPS onsite, so you can claim immediately. If you have any specific queries, please contact our lovely administration staff.
